For souvenir items of Lubang

There is a newly opened souvenir shop located in Guijo St. Brgy. Tagbac of Lubang Island where I got a pretty cool white shirt with simple but great design with the name "Certified LubangeƱos" on it. They also offer mugs with designs of some of the famous places in Lubang Island. Check out there FB page here.

More on what to do with my 8 days vacation there where I had the chance to be a part of their traditional feast.

The Fiesta in Lubang, Mindoro

It's the greatest time to go there during fiesta season in Sitio Libis. Good thing I had the chance to have a vacation and witness their annual feast through my friend Mark Legaspi, who is a local.

Their fiesta event is on Apr 28 - May 1. And what's interesting here is that even OFW's go back home to their hometown during this time.

So here are some of the fiesta events in that certain Sitio Libis in Isla de Cabra and other activities in that whole island that I have witnessed and experienced also which you may want it also.

  • Coronation Night

            -  There is a 3 queens in this event which they'll have some form of like fund-raising for each queen, whoever gets the highest amount will be crowned as the queen of Fiesta.

  • Auditorium Night

           - A night full of traditional dancing with their chosen partners.

  • Island Marathon

         - After a night full of dancing will be the island marathon where I run my way around the Island for almost 4km, together with some competitors. Although I didn't won that marathon I saw the whole beauty of that island, with it's big farmland, pigs with triangular bars in their neck , and cows and carabaos blocking the road.

  • Eating Estofado almost every day

           - This is a stewed pork dish served with fried plantains which I was eating almost everyday when I was there, and I love every bite of it!

here are some activities of Fiesta events where I didn't have a chance to witness:

  •  Agawan ng biik

               - Catching of little pig and whoever wins the game wins also the pig.

  • Bankathon

              - A racing competition with the use of boats using just their paddle.

here are some activities not related to Fiesta events:

  • Ikot Isla through banca Flonareda

         - It will take 1 and a half hour, going around the Isla de Cabra with boat. And an additional 30 minutes or more swimming in one of the few beaches namely Balibago beach, Kima beach and Mahangkig beach.

  • Parola climbing

         - Although it is a very risky climb which means stairs are shaking already and some parts may be falling debris once you step on it especially those near the windows. It is worth it seeing on the top the view below.

  • Sunrise and sunset view

        - It's always nice to see the sunrise everyday while I'm having a morning walk. And also on a beach seeing the view of sunrise, sipping some hot coffee while feeling the fresh air. For me that's priceless!
